King Serelath

King Serelath Dreadstalker XI-may he rest in peace- was the previous ruler of the Temnokt Empire, the husband of Queen Mother Boreal Blizzard and father of the future King Bittercold. 

Serelath was born to King Norruth the 'Eternal Fire' Dreadstalker and Queen Twinklewing, and like all the rulers of the Empire before him, had a sheltered upbringing. While being taught the basics of Dark Magic, Serelath proved to be skilled in water-based spells, unlike his father who mastered fire spells. When he turned old enough to ascend to the throne, he had not yet found a mate, and so his father delayed his coronation until he found a worthy mate. 

One of the dradies presented to him, Boreal Blizzard, was picked out as the most ideal choice of a mate for Serelath, and so they married a few months later, during the Serelath's coronation. However, Norruth and Twinklewing died during a devastating blizzard during a voyage. 

The driving lasted for a few more years, until Boreal Blizzard discovered she was carrying an egg. Months later, the egg hatched into a healthy male hatchling, whom Serelath named Bittercold. Unlike his father before him, Serelath gave his son a little more freedom, even allowing to accompany Crenshaw-the newly-appointed Court Mage- out to town. A few years later, when Bittercold had chosen Astral Dusk , Serelath and Princess Celestia were talking of a peace treaty, and the Sun Ruler sent a delegated from the Crystal Empire, Sombra. 

Serelath generously taught Sombra the Dark Arts, not knowing they Dark Magic was harmful and corrupting to Unicorns. He did not realize his mistake until Sombra openly revealed his true nature and attempted to conquer the krussian Empire. Although he was driven away by Crenshaw, Serelath was fatally wounded, and died of his wounds shortly.

Boreal Blizzard, was well as the rest of the Royal Family and the kingdom were brokenhearted by the event. The Unicorn's deed caused the Temnokt to develop a racist fear and rejection of Unicorns altogether, despite the atrocious murder having being executed by a single stallion. Only a few clans remained warm and welcoming to Equestrians.
